Our last issue dealt with how we can better service our customers, a crucial topic for all of us. We hope you enjoyed it, and found it useful for your business. We believe this edition of CCC UpFront sheds light on an equally important topic: regulation and legislation in our industry. The collision repair industry is presently feeling the impact of numerous pieces of legislation initiated at both the state and federal levels of the government. We've devoted much of this issue to discussing this legislation, keeping you up-to-date on what's happening across the country, and in your own back yard. In our feature article Robert Guttman examines the various types of legislation that affect our industry today. From anti-steering laws to the consumer bill-of-rights, Robert breaks down the major categories of legislation and provides an overview of legislation activity. To further delve into the current regulatory environment, this issue features an interview with John Eager of the National Association of Independent Insurers (NAII) and Ron Pyle of the Automotive Service Association (ASA). We hope their expert views provide you with insight into this important issue. This issue also features a case study with Caliber Collision Centers, which explores how they have used technology to grab a competitive edge in their business. We hear from our own technology expert, Jerry Rozmiarek, who looks at ways to strengthen your organization's IT infrastructure and business processes without new large-scale investments. Finally, I want to encourage you to keep sending your comments and questions to us at cccupfront@cccis.com. We sincerely appreciate the feedback. Best regards, Jim Dickens Editor-In-Chief |
